IBS is certainly possible. However, before attributing it to this, you may want to investigate more serious causes.
This can include an infection,
inflammatoryInflammatory bowel disease
Ulcerative colitis bowel disease or
colitisColitis
Irritable bowel syndrome
Ischemic colitis
Necrotizing enterocolitis
Salmonella enterocolitis
Ulcerative colitis. Obtaining a stool test to rule out infection or malabsorption can be considered. A
colonoscopy can also be done to evaluate for inflammatory bowel disease.
If the tests are non-revealing, then treatment for IBS can be optimized. Anti-spasmodic agents and dietary fiber are normal initial treatments.
