Is this a recurrent infection? What to do?

Is this a recurrent infection? What to do?

Hi there,

I tested positive for H Pylori in May 2009 and was treated straight away. My doctor didn't keep me on proton pump inhibitors, however, following treatment and my new doctor has told me that my stomach didn't get the chance to heal. I've been on lansoprazole for a fortnight and then omeprazole (lansoprazole caused hypoglycaemia so I changed) for another fortnight, but for the past 5 days have gotten a lot worse.

Symptoms: intermittent but severe nausea (goes away for 5 hours when I sleep), heartburn, tiredness, aching limbs, swollen stomach (I assume...it feels like it's full of concrete), occasional diarrhea, occasional stomach stabbing pains. No vomiting, but then I've gotten very good at preventing this over the years with emetophobia.

I am, of course, going to see the doctor again, but can't see my preferred one for another 15 days. I was wondering if anyone has any idea if this could be a recurrence of H.Pylori? Should I be pushing my doctor to refer me to a gastroenterologist? I first went to the doctor about my nausea and heartburn ten years ago and was prescribed gaviscon...so as you can imagine I'm completely at the end of my tether!

Many thanks for any help or reassurance,
Lucy
