A colonoscopy isn't necessary once it's diagnosed, but it is important to make sure you don't have further attacks. Or you need to know exactly which blood vessels are affected and possibly plan for a resection of that portion of the bowel at some point in the future. You need to understand just how much of the bowel will need to be removed and how that will afffect you, since certain areas of the bowel have better blood supply than other areas. The pattern of the vasculature should also be traced, so if you haven't had an abdominal angiogram, you need to speak with your doc.
Review all of your meds to make sure you're not taking meds that would dehydrate you. Stay well-hydrated and try to maintain a nice, even blood pressure.
