Isolated, elevated GGT

by Elliot, Jun 16, 2002 12:00AM
I'm a 32 year old male in good health.  I had a routine blood test in April which showed an elevated GGT of 80 iu/l (ref 11-50).  The ALT(SGPT) appeared to be normal at 57 iu/l (ref 13-78).  I had the GGT tested again in June, and it came back relatively higher, 263 iu/l (ref 9-78).

I have no symptoms to speak of, am not at risk for HIV or HCV, and I'm not at all a heavy drinker.  Is this something I should be worried about?

Ask the doctor if there is a possibility that you might have fatty liver.
