Itching hands and stomach pain

My feet have been itchy since several months. I have never been very aware of treating my liver well. Who really think of that when they're not even 30? Well, when you have some clues of acute medicine and you know that pain that can be localized to the upper abdomen could as well be liver symptoms (since you have been using medicines for a longer period of time, and when you drink alcohol, you drink a lot and not so seldom...)
Since a few days, even my hands started itching. Not the skin really. It is as if it comes from the bones! A trip to get pedicure confirmed that there is nothing wrong with my feet, part from some changes that comes with age of course. I might have been very scared of age. It is a fact: I get older. My liver gets older...
Anyways, I went to the doctor's office today and asked for bloodwork to be done. They do a liver-test and a test for food allergies. Somehow, even if I shared "all the bothers" during my night (insomnia, fatigue, headache of lightsensitive kind, the upper right ab-pain, nausea and nightsweats) I forgot to ask how long it might take to get results back. Maybe forgetfullness comes in as a symptoms too, what do I know...

I eat a lot of proteins since I am a female who is into building strength and endurance. I'm in the middle of paramedic studies and have a little time-pressure on me to get fit. Us women don't have the same physics as men - *sigh*

Does anyone have any good advice? - except from cutting as many meds as possible (target: 0) and leave the alcohol alone so that I can help my liver regenerate - if it prooves that it is a biliary cirrhosis then.... I just don't want to fall in the trap of selfdiagnosis, but it is really on time that I pay attention to the organs that I have!

I started out with all the same symptoms. the itching of hands and feet.  Sweating and forgetfulness. by accident I found out by seeing liver enzmes that my enzymes were was out of wack,  The doctor ordered a liver biopsy and it showed I have PBC.
I had my gallbladder out 30 years ago. I have autoimmune hepatitis of liver and Primary Biliary Cirhorris. It sure made me feel better to know there was really something wrong.
Thanks Barb

Oh thank you VERY much lindi16!!! I think I'll start as soon as I get up tomorrow morning. I did in a last attempt to get rid of the foot-itch try some detox patches you put under your feet. It's the second night with it coming up now so I don't know if it helps yet.

I really hope that the diet works for you. It doesn't sound so tricky.... Except from the caffeine having to be cut. I'm a "8-cup-a-day person", oooh yes bad habit but with a lot of officework each 2nd week I think I might have made it a mental addiction. I don't trust myself to be able to think in numbers and names and setting up so huge (mmm, going on other's echonomy) bills without the caffeine. But I didn't have any trust in myself to be able to cut the caffeine with the other job - and I managed it! That headache I can manage, but sometimes with the agency I'm very happy to get into the situations I don't have to say anything :p

Does it happen that you get exhausted and have the worst onset of light-sensitive headaches? Just curious. I might try to mix and match too many symptoms to be one step ahead hehe. The bloodwork haven't returned yet. I really think I'll give that share - even if it comes back on normal ranges.

Good luck on the diet - I'm starting tomorrow (it's almost midnight here)

I have similar symptoms as you. No itching problems so can't help you there, but when I started to get freaked out about my liver (I still am) I started this Detox diet where I am supposed to eat many different kinds of veggies and can have 3 serving of fresh fruits each day(no canned) I also can't have any fats (oils, butter, margarine)  No soda, coffee, sugar, artificial sweetner, caffeine. Basically nothing packaged. Lots of water (not from the tap)  Caffiene green tea, homeaid juices no sugar added. Can have egg whites, fat free yogurt, veggie burgers(limited). Anyways it sucks but I am on the 4th day and I am feeling better and it is a great way to get rid of those toxins in the liver. Just a suggestion. By the way did you get your bloodwork back?

I am having the same problems with the itching. I had my gall bladder out in July and haven't had good luck since with with diarrhea. Recently, the itching started (in both hands and feet) worse at night. I too, haven't been all that kind to my liver.  Any help or suggestions from anyone would be appreciated! No ointment or creams help. Like she said, it's a deep itch not something that when you itch it, it goes away. Quite annoying!

As time proceeds and I notice what aggravates the ache in the stomach, I do at least now know that it IS getting worse even before AND after eating. My hands have spells and my feet always get worse at night. I'm waiting for the bloodwork.

So: Can anyone give me any other tips on how to get my diet worked better into treating my liver nice? I mean... I know I can cut fat - it's mean how it aggravates the ache! I'd be sooo thankful for any kind of advice.
