Itchy Anus

Over the past couple of days I have developed an Itchy Anus. It has been incredibly irritating and to drive home my point it is 4:30am and I am awake researching specific potential causes. I have a history of hemmoroids (hemorrhoids) but this case doesnt seem to be similar to past occurrences. The last few times I passed stool it was very soft but it was still "a solid". I also passed stool a few extra times that day which seemed to be the start of the iritation. I showered immediately and cleaned the area and applied preparation H shortly thereafter. The cream, coupled with some ibuprofen, seems to be what gets me (halfway) through the night. Any suggestions or possible solutions?
