J-Tube reinsertion

by Mackie, Mar 14, 2002 12:00AM
It a Jejunostomy feeding tube comes out, what should be done?

Should A nurse insert a tube immediately to keep the stoma open?

Should the patient use the reinserted tube as is to see how it is tolerated?

Should a procedure be followed to position the tube in the Jejunum again ?

HI,
I have a J- Tube in and mine has came out before and i had to go right away and have it put back in. I have found out that the stitches don't stay in long that they use to keep the tube in. So when you see that there is only one stetch left then the best thing to do is to go and have more put in.
