J tube replacements

J tube replacements

I have had severe gastroparesis since spring of 2006. I had a GJ tube inserted October 2008. Needed the tube replaced three times because of migration, leaking, obstructed.  Also had quite a bit of pain. A permanent J tube was placed surgically February 2009. I've had the tube replaced about every 2-3 months and due to have it replaced Dec 23. My symptoms include leaking around the tube, skin breakdown, burning abdominal tenderness and pain around the site and abdominal swelling around the area. Some doctors say yes, there are always problems with J tubes some say no. If I go on like this I'll be having tubes changed 5-6 times a year for years. What do you think? Lori297
