LACTOSE INTOLERANT PRESCIBED ZELNORM

LACTOSE INTOLERANT PRESCIBED ZELNORM

HI, HAVING LOTS OF PAINFUL GAS IN CHEST INTESTINES, AND LOW AB...CONSTIPATED AND HAVE GERD, IBS, LACTOSE INTOLERANCE...
SAW NEW GASTRO TODAY, AND WILL BE SCOPED SOON, HOWEVER HE PRESCRIBED ZELNORM, AND I NOTICED IT SHOULDN'T BE TAKEN BY LACTOSE INTOLERANT PEOPLE...SHOULD I BE TAKING THIS STUFF?
AFRAID TO TAKE IT AS I AM READING SO MANY NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS ABOUT IT AND RELATIVELY NEW MED. ALSO AM AFRAID OF ENDOSCOPY...ANYONE HAVE THIS DONE?
P.S. HE MENTIONED I HAVE TO TAKE THIS FOREVER, WHAT??
THERE'S GOTTA BE A NATURAL WAY TO GO ON CONSTIPATION THAT DOESN'T CAUSE GAS AND CRAMPING AND IS SAFE

Being scoped is no big deal and painless.  The worst part of having a colonoscopy is the prep kit you start the day before.  So just make sure you are home when you start it.  If you having and EGD (down your throat) it too, is painless.  You might have a little sore throat when you wake up, but you won't feel or remember a thing.

I was prescribed Zelnorm last year for IBS w/ constipation.  Well when I took it, I never stopped going, so I stopped it.  I later on found out it was something else that was causing my probem and not IBS, therefore it didn't work for me.

Thank you for allaying my fears of being scoped...the upper scares me...I hope your health issues are not serious. I appreaciate you sharing your Zelnorm experience...I am wary about going nonstop, since I just had that problem 1.5 weeks ago, and back to constipated.

take care

Would any OTC laxative help?

Don't fear the endoscopy. It's a breeze, really. You may get a slightly sore throat for a day or two. That's it, really.

Haven't had the colon scoped yet, so I can't speak about that, but it doesn't sound fun. You're knocked out for it, though, so don't worry.

Have you had your gallbladder tested? I am a bit lactose sensitive, myself, but not intolerant. Gallbladder problems can give you lactose issues, too.

Hang in there! Best of luck and best of health to you.

Thank you for allaying my fears about the endoscopy...Good point about gallbladder, I have had ultrasound that showed normal abdominal organs, so I don't know if colonoscopy would say any differently. You know, I suspect I could have that "celiac" disease just because I have a terrilbe time digesting white flour products, bread and meats.

I will hang in there, and try not to be so fearful of the tests I soon will have in a few weeks.

thank you
p.s. eating Sugar free chocolate as we speak.
I know that doc knew of my lactose problems, but like the pharmacist said its only in trace amounts, which doesn't make a difference to my stomach...affects it.
