Was reading your posts and had to respond. My acid reflux is so bad that it goes all the way up into my throat and ears and will lock my jaw. It hurts so bad that I can't een get the top of the rolaids jar. I take prilosec every day. If I miss a dose, I pay dearly! I have read and heard so much about the damage it can do to the esophogas and because of that worry have considered having the N.F. done (that is where they wrap a part of the stomach around the opening to keep the acid from coming back up? right?) but after reading how much trouble you two have had, I don't know about it now? WHy did they do it on you? Were your symptoms just as bad as mine? I would appreciate any comments.
I had two nissen fundoplications, and these two surgeries were a total waste of my time. I have to take medicines, and if I don't the acid reflux kills me.
I have had constant shortness of breath. I am wondering if anyone who has had the nissen has this problem? Could it be that the wrap is to high up and to tight, possibly in the diaphram? I don't know!!! Something is causing this chronic shortness. Has anyone ever had to go have the wrap undone?
I wish I never had it. The first surgery was with little incisions, the second surgery was to cut my belly wide open and the recovery was HELL!
Since that surgery where the wrap was made tighter, the shortness of breath is unbelievable. HELP????
