Left Upper Quadrant Pain

I am asking this question for my mother, she is a 58 yo female, obese, with severe left upper quadrant pain, burning radiating to her back, with alot of gas, she belches alot. If she sits in a chair and moves her body you can hair gurguling in her stomach from the gas, she is on the following meds with no relief:

Prilosec
Gas X 125mg Max daily amount

Any suggestions what it can, can't be? Could it be more than gas?  Please help?

1. Belching probably comes from the gas, produced by bacteria in the stomach, which is usually Helycobacter pylori. H.pylori also causes gastric ulcer. There is one non-invasive breath test to confirm this, if it is positive, treatment is with antibiotics.

2. The other posibility is, that she is constipated. Constipation may cause gas and pain anywhere in the abdomen.

3. Left upper quadrant pain could be also from inflammed trannsverse part of the colon, for this colonoscopy would be needed.
4. Pancreatic disease also gives LUQ pain, blood test may reveal elevated pancreatic enzymes.

I would start with breath test and consider about constipation. Other tests can wait.
