Left rib pain

by astro, Jan 26, 2002 12:00AM
I've been experiencing on my left side approximatley around the lower rib cage mostly towards the back. It seem to be connected with bowel movement through my system. If I have a loose stool the pain seems to be like a dull warming of the left back rib cage. If it's a harder stool it semms to more cramping of the back starting on the left with some feelin on the right back of rib cage. After I eat I can feel a spasm on the left back of my rib cage, not painful but annoying. I'm 36 year old male. The pain stared two month ago and I saw the doctor he thaought it might be kidney stones. He took blood samples and urine test the blood test to check glucose levels and the urine test to check for blood in the urine. Everything was fine with the exception of my white cell count was a little elevated and he didn't seem concerned. He also did a abdominal Xray, which I was told everything looked normal. Shortly after the test I had the flu. The doctor gave me anti biotics and it didn't seem to do anything. I've been expriecing loose stool to diarea (diarrhea) to well formed stool. Some of the stools look as if it had undigested food in it. I also have floating stools. My movements go any where from once or twice a day to every other day.The third doc I saw cracked my back and it seemed to help with the excessive gas I've been expriecing. This doctor gave me dicyclomine and the gas has reduced significanly. He seem to think it's IBS. The only change before this happened is I moved into a very stressfull job. The doc is stumped. Can stress cause these symptoms?
