by lolkitteh, Jun 09, 2009 01:14PM
been drinking a good bit for 4-5 years, im 28 years old and 5'10, 167 pounds. Went to doc for physical, ALT is at 85, should i be concerned?

That level is indeed elevated, and can be associated with alcohol.

I would abstain from alcohol and repeat the tests in 1 month to see if the level is rising, or not.

An ultrasound can also be done to exclude intrinsic liver disease, as well as blood tests to evaluate for viral hepatitis.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

ok, is 85 quite high? or would this be expected with moderate alcohol use?
