My liver enzymes were elevated to 66 - is this considered high? I do drink but I also take Lexapro. Can Lexapro elevate your liver enzymes? I wonder if I stop the Lexapro if that will help or do I need to quit drinking??
I'm not a doctor and know very little about this stuff. I'm not certain about this so you may want to call your local lab but I was told the following:
Alk phos should range from 20 to 60
GGT should range from 20 to 60
ALT
You can also go to Lab Tests Online at http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/cbc/glance.html and check your results.
For additional information about Lexapro, call the Forest Medical Information and Communication Department toll-free at 800-678-1605, ext. 66297 or visit http://www.lexapro.com/faq/about_lexapro.aspx#q17. I tried to phone for you but couldn't get through because I'm in Canada. :(
If your enzymes are elevated for any reason, even if it's drug-related, drinking is a bad thing. If you quit the Lexapro, that might cause other problems. Please talk to your doctor and be honest about your drinking. After all, drinking isn't a crime. When the liver is involved, though, drinking makes everything worse.
