Liver functions

by daveanne, Sep 22, 2001 12:00AM
My husband has been a heavy wine drinker over the past decade.  He complained constantly of many different ailments and became jaundiced very suddenly.  Eventually we managed to get him into hospital.  All to late I fear.  His liver is seriously damaged and his kidneys have been effected too.  In hospital they know the reason for his illnesses but are not very supportive in my search for information.  I need to know that despite the severity of the liver damage, can his body still function if he chooses a different more respectful way of life. He also underwent a heart bypass 12 years ago.  (a reason for his depression and need for alcohol)
