Long Term Digestive Problems

by johnnie2, Mar 21, 2009 01:56PM
Just wondering if there is anything new in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. I have been living with this for 25 years.  Each year it gets harder to control and now I have bleeding hemorrhoids on top of it. I take fiber and get diarrhea.  I don't and get constipated.  I drink coffee or tea and my bowels work better, but I get digestive problems and it aggravates the Hemorrhoids.  I tried probiotics when help control the diarrhea and also found that Lamisil and Metronidazole seem to help control gas (which was bad before I used this), but can't figure out why this helps.  If I stop taking it symptoms get worse.  Lost  a lot of weight (30 lbs), but am stable now for a year or so. Am being tested for Celiac Disease (Gluten antibody test) so who knows.  If I knew my life was going to be like this when I was born I probably would have refused to "come out."  Miserable !  Any Thoughts?
