Loose stools

by MAH10, Oct 30, 2008 06:48PM
I had gallbladder surgery 2 months ago, and I have been having loose stools after eating. It is getting worse each week. I saw my surgeon today, and he is having me do a stool test. He put me on antibiotic in case I have an intestinal infection until the results come back. I had antibiotics after surgery and again two weeks ago due to bronchitis. My loose stools has gotten worse the last two weeks. It seems, everything I eat or drink, I have to keep on going to the bathroom. Does anyone else had this annoying problem.

Frustrated

This discussion is related to Diarrhea, loose stool for over 6 weeks.  What is wrong with me?.

The antibiotics may not be doing you a lot of good and I'm not sure people should take that many unless there's a proven reason for you to take them. And considering you've taken a heck of a lot of them in the past few weeks, you may want to do yourself a favor and start some probiotics to try to restore the normal count and type of bacteria in your system that get decimated due to antibiotic use.

Some people have a lot of trouble processing fats after their GB is removed and it can take quite a bit of time to get that turned around. You may want to consider following a low fat diet for some time in the future to see if that's of help. It may help to bring the diarrhea under control.
