My Dr. has already explained this to me. With a Hiatus Hernia with Gastric reflux the acid can come up the trachea and tip over into the windpipe. This was how I got the last bad attack of bronchitis. This is why the Specialist wanted me to take 2x20mg losec twice a day because I produce a heap of acid. Also it is important to have the head of the bed raised to help keep the acid down.
Good call on this....I didn't catch it!
Whose question were you answering? You posted this as your own post, not as a reply to someone else.
We can't answer this because we aren't doctors and it all depends on how severe your condition is, so working closely with your doctor is best. I've never heard of acid getting into the lungs......so it makes me wonder if there isn't more to your condition. Ask your doctor any questions you may have, he is your best resource. Medications are prescribed in many different ways and a lot depends on how severe the condition is. Sorry we couldn't be of more help, but this is one question that your doctor needs to address for you. I'm glad you're doing well......take care.
I was answering the question on how long could you take this drug. I am having no problems at all.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! This is a question you need to ask your doctor.
