Lower Right Sided Pain

by janebond, Sep 02, 2008 01:58PM
I have lower right sided pain which i cannot get rid of and it is effecting my daily life.  I have eliminated so many things and had many tests (see below) and am trying to find out from others any info i can on similar cases.  Pain gets very severe the more i walk around and if i do exercise.  I cannot lie on my right side to sleep and the weirdest symptom is a painful area on my right hip/buttock which hurts when i tap on it.  When i eat healthy (no fatty foods/red meat etc) it gets worse.
I do have Crohns disease and had a Colonoscopy and EGD recently which did show swelling in the small intestine but i have been on Prednisone Steroids for quite a while now and Flagyl antibiotics and my stomach is much better and i am regular so no blockage but the pain is still the same.  It has gotten so bad that i have ended up in the ER twice in the past ten days (throbbing radiating pain in my lower right/hip region) and upon CT Scans with and without contrast checking my lower abdomen and pelvis region - Apendix (Normal) they just say "must be your Crohns and pump me full of IV pain meds and a pain med script and send me home".  I am seeing my Gastro Dr tomorrow morning but i have to get this fixed.  I need to exercise and live without this darn pain.  I have lost 22 lbs but mainly because i went on a healthy diet.  I thought it was lack of suger lol and went onto a regular diet to see if it would go away and no luck.  I have cut out all alcohol gone Lactose free and no artificial sugars and still the pain.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you and have a wonderful day

Hi Jane,

I've just read several other posts from others that describe your pain and I myself, have it too. I have lost nearly 20 lbs. in four months and I am small to begin with. I have other symptoms as well. A huge concern. I have had ct scans, mri, octreotide scan and abdominal ultrasound. All negative findings with the exception of a small hemangioma on my liver which they say is benign and would not be causing this burning pain. (I just hope the imaging which was vague on the CT is correct and that it is indeed a hemangioma) I just had an endoscopy on Tuesday and that too, was unremarkable. I am scheduling the colonoscopy for sometime in the near future. Do you have any other symptoms with it besides weightloss? I am dizzy/lightheaded most of the time now and experience constipation. What is a EGD by the way? I am certain that all the posts I've read with this type of pain are gastrointestinal in nature....I just don't have a clue what may bbe causing it. My gastro is stumped and now resorting to the "stress component" talk which is absurd. The only stress/depression I'm experiencing is because of this ongoing pain with no resolution! What is your next step...do you know. Keep me posted.
