Lower left stomach pain, diverticulitis?

Lower left stomach pain, diverticulitis?

Hello all, I am a 27 year old female with no family history of intestinal issues.  Just after Christmas, I started feeling discomfort in my lower left abdominal quadrant that turned into dull on-and-off pain, and then constant pain.  I wouldn't call it intense, but it definitely was always there.  I had no fever, no digestion issues, nothing but pain.  My doctor sent me for a pelvic ultrasound and nothing was found to be abnormal, and the technician pressed directly on the spot where I was having pain.  My doctor then prescribed me antibiotics commonly prescribed for diverticulitis to be taken for 10 days.

I finished up the 10th day last Friday.  The pain had somewhat subsided around day 6 of treatment but never went away.  The next couple of days after I stopped taking the antibiotics, the pain returned.  It is not as intense as before, but it is still there.

Does this sound like it is in fact diverticulitis?  I am having some doubts but I don't really want to get a CT scan, which my doctor thinks is my next option.  I will be going to a different doctor for a second opinion, but I just wanted to see if anyone else here has had diverticulitis with no other symptoms besides pain, or if anyone has an idea if this may be something else.

Thank you!
