Malabsorption

Hi,

I'm pretty sure I'm suffering from some form of malabsorption, but i don't know whats causing it? I have terrbile flatulence, unless i eat rice, which doesn't ferment in your gut, I get an oilly from my anus when i eat high fat foods, i have really bowed legs (osteomalacia), chronic calcium deficency, low folate in my last blood test, low albumin and high billirubin.
When i went to see a gastroentrologist he wasn't concerned because I didn't have low vit D. When i think about this now though it seems ridiculous, because the majority of vitamin D comes from sun light, it is probably only in the winter that my vitimin D level becomes an issue.
This makes my life very diffiicult, it has done for a very long time, and i would really like some good advice. I'm sure this isn't lactose intolerance, i don't think i'm a celiac-i have been tested-I'm of the opinion it's related to my liver, or gallbladder.

thanks in advance,
john

hey,
thanks for the  advice, but unfortunately these are all things i do/have done. I almost never eat red meat or anything with alot of fat because it leads to horrible symptoms, and i try and generally eat brown rice but sometimes it isn't practicle. futhermore, I have had an ultrasound done, but there were no abnormal findings.

anymore suggestions would be greatly appriciated

No doctor here john... But I could advice you, from personal experience, to get an ultrasound done... There they can see more clearly whats going on with your liver and gallbladder.

Aside from this, I would recommend some liver tests so you can measure liver function.

High fat foods can cause all kinds of issues with digestion, Pancreas and colon, the human body has trouble digesting fat. So step one is to eat low fat protein (fish, Chicken breast and lein meats, Fiber ie: vegitables (Green is Best) stay away from anything white, white rice, white bread, starchy foods, fried potatos, and foods high is salt and sugar. I would also add a good probiotic, or eat lots of yogurt if you like it. Have you been on an anti-biotic treatment lately? anti-biotics kill the good bacteria in your stomache, when that happens, a nasty bacteria called H-Pylori takes over and causes high stomach acid, it thrives in stomach acid and can cause all kinds of stomach problems and also Acid reflux. Your Gastro can test you for H-Pylori also. Good Luck FTB4
