Dealing with profuse hair loss and tiredness. Constant colds/flu.
I moved a year ago, and my Dr from home sent me my test results, saying I need to see a gastro-enterologist, as he is wondering about malabsorption. Is this necessary, and why would I have malabsorption?
I went to a Dr in my new town, with the test results and he gave me a shot of iron and told me to take D and Calcium and Folate
(havent been very good at taking them I must admit - I will try harder now I am so tired!) The shots were a year ago. Do I need to be retested regularly for deficiency? He didnt think I would need to see a gastroenterologist, so that was that.
I eat very healthily. Lots of vegetables, lean meat, high fiber breads, dairy etc.
In looking back at my old test results, I see that one Dr said I have "intrinsic blocking factor" I understand that this affects B12 absorption, but I dont understand what the term means. Previously I have been told that I have Pernicious
anaemia and had to have regular shots for it, then I was told by another dr that I dont have PA and dont need shots, and now I am told I have "intrinsic blocking factor" So I dont really know what to think! I am not even really sure if intrinsic blocking factor is another name for Pernicious
I really think you should see a GI doctor as there are many things that can cause malabsorption. You need to find out what is causing it so I recommend that you seek a good GI dr.
