HI everyone i just joined medhelp like 10 minutes ago lol! my question is something i have been dealing with for a long..long...and i mean LONG time and that is constipation.so heres my story: recently iv been passing hard dry ball like stools for the past 4 weeks before 2011 hit lol. so i decided to go to the docter and she could tell that i was dehydrated just by looking at my chap lips
(lol)she told me to drink more water at least 4 water bottles a day , suggested drinking boost or ensure because im so little( im 16 and weigh 92 pounds). AND she wanted a stool sample in those little tube containers also. so i said ok. right after i went home i had a bowl movement and (did everything that i was supposed to do) but the next day i started to feel really bad! like i was going to die or something! i felt:
than usual
Stomach making loud noise Even when i just ate!
Sharp pain( almost like lightning) in my stomach. usally last 6 seconds.
I did some research about Bowel Obstruction and im seeing the symptoms but i cant be sure without a REAL docter! i decided to take a Ducolax and i really felt better after it ,but my stomach was still hard. 2 days ent
by and im feeling the same symptoms i had before?!? i have have to wait a bit for the stool samples to come back with everything being closed cuz of the new year stuff but im really desperate! i aslo asked my mom to buy me a bottle of Miralax but im kinda afraid to take it being as i have no idea what wrong with me lol.
*nOTE* My stool is like Type 1 and Type 2 on the bristol stool scale( type it in google if you dont know what it is)
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! It sounds like constipation to me. It makes it unlikely that it is a bowel obstruction because you are still passing gas
obstruction). I don't think you really need to worry about that though. I would recommend increasing your fiber intake, your intake of fruits and vegetables, get more exercise and drink at least 80 oz of fluid a day. If that doesn't help then you should get some more testing done.
