you may akilasia : this is when your esphogus is to tight and the food cannot go down. an up GI will give you the answer probably. There are a few treatment options that work out great. I had surgery for this 25 years ago and the problem is gone.
You should have an upper GI done as well as a "motility" test on your esophagus. I have "nutcracker esophagus" which makes it very difficult to swallow and is at times extremely painful. I also suffer with GERD, acid reflux, gastritis, esophagitis, which are just a few of the digestive problems I have going on. When I was only 13, I almost died from ulcerative colitis. It had been going on for years, and I was in extreme pain and also passing blood in my stools, but my mother did not believe me, so it took almost dying from blood loss and waking up one morning with 106 fever before she finally believed me and rushed me to our pediatrician who in turn, sent me to one of the BEST colon doctors in the entire state of Oklahoma! The man saved my life literally. I also have IBD(mainly with diarrhea), diverticulosis, and a history of colon polyps. It's really a bummer (putting it mildly), to have to plan my entire life and what I try to do around a TOILET! Needless to say, I don't get out much, in particular going out to eat because I know within 30 minutes...well you get the picture! Please get your swallowing problems checked out. Also, my father, who passed away in '98, had cancer of the esophagus which can also make it hard to swallow. PLEASE GET YOURSELF CHECKED OUT ASAP!! Good luck, Abby
