Morning Diarrhea

Morning Diarrhea

I will provide a timeline of my diarrhea, which always occurs in the Morning, more or less.

6/17 - Morning Diarrhea
6/18  - Morning Diarrhea
6/19 - Morning Diarrhea
6/20 - nothing. - consumed alcohol at night.
6/21 - normal, though loose stool.
6/22 - nothing. consumed large quanity of alcohol.
6/23 - two loose stools, but solid.
6/24 - one loose stool, little watery.
6/25 - nothing.
6/26 - dark diarrhea.

I'm prescribed 50 mg Zoloft, it's my fifth week of the dosage, I've also been drinking heavy amounts of soda (coke) during the day at work. Diet has changed slightly. Still have an appetite. No fever, no other symptoms, other then the fact I do have heavy anxiety as of late. If anyone could help me, I'd be very very appreciative.

Dark diarhea (diarrhea) - you mean black?

Drinking Normal Coke (caffeinated), normal. Usually between 4-5 a day, by dark it wasn't necessarily black, but just dark brown. I had black diarrhea on 6/19, after I took some pepto bismol, which I understand to be a side effect of it. I also will add I take the Zoloft in the morning as well.

Stool is very probably dark from Pepto-Bismol. You'll maybe noticed dark tongue discoloration also. Pepto-Bismol is not ment for prolonged use (up to 3 weeks).

How old are you? Male/female?

Alcohol in large amount impairs intestinal epithelial cells and affects absorption - this may add to your diarrhea. In this situation even the sugar from the coke and bubbles can speed up peristalsis.

Anxiety is a possible basic cause in your case, you will know.
Parasites (like Giardia) may be contracted with food or water poisoning. Diarrhea from parasites typically has a vague, prolonged course (weeks). So, if diarrhea will not stop in few days, you might want to have your stool checked for bacteria and parasites.

First, you can try with some days of no alco, no soda, no milk and low-fat diet.

Stomach flu - which is viral infectine of the intestine, occurs mainly in small children. I believe, in your case it was a combination of causes you've mentioned.
