, white, age 67 height 5"5.5" weight 145 +/-.. For the last couple of years, most mornings I wake nauseated and don't feel better until I vomit. I read through the old forum on this and I discovered that a lot, of people are struggling with this so I'm explaining as much as I can to tell my story and also to maybe help others whose doctors haven't been able to help them. I take meds for low thyroid, pre-diabetis, slightly high blood pressure
and I used to be on Ventolin but they stopped that when they put me on Qvar. I had liver damage from too much Tylenol (acetomeniphen) but I stopped taking anything with acetomeniphen a couple of years ago and my liver tests are now coming back normal. I'm on reflux
. However, I avoid gluten and simple carbs and satuated fats and most junk food. Overall, I feel quite healthy for my age, although I'm easily fatigued and get short of breath
upon extended exertion. But this morning nausea/vomiting is having a very negative impact on my life because it keeps me from starting my daytime activities sometimes until 11:00 am or even later at times. (I even had to quit going to Sunday morning worship at church.) Sometimes if I can't vomit and I need to get my day started I'll go ahead and eat breakfast and if it stays down that's good but usually I'll vomit it right up. Then I eat the exact same food again and I feel just fine. Whenever I vomit, II don't have any stomach pain or heartburn or diahrea or constipation... and I don't feel "sick". I just get that gaggy/nauseated feeling that won't go away until I vomit. Sometimes what comes up is clear, or yellowish (very thick and sticky) but mostly lately it is very white almost like saliva. Sometimes there's also bile and occassioanlly some food but not usually. I've had every test they can think of and they can't find what is causing this. And the frustrating thing is, I can't identify any pattern! One day I can eat something and it happens and the next day eating the same foods it doesn't happen. Well, I did maybe find a pattern the other day because the last few weeks I've been very busy and not getting a lot of sleep, and I found the less time I spend sleeping the less likely I am to get the nausea/vomiting when I wake up. I'm better to nap during the day and sleep fewer hours at night. This makes me suspect some kind of fungal infection because fungus "grows" during the night while you are sleeping because you are still and not drinking or eating anything. (I haven't been tested for fungals yet.) Now, there's another major health issue that I think is related to this. About 4 months ago I got laryngitis
and it lasted for over two months with no voice. The laryngitis hit during a four-hour "live shot" for a TV news program, outside very early in the morning. By the time we finished my voice was almost gone and within another hour it was totally gone. I can talk now but my voice isn't what it used to be and I still lose it sometimes. I've been seen by Gastro, ENT, Speech Therapy, Pulmo but no answers yet. Allergy tests come out clear - no allergies at all. Early on my GP ran me through a course of strong antibiotics but that made no difference at all. The Pulmo put me on a nebulizer with lidocaine and sodium cloride because he thought I might have vocal cord dysphonia but the treament didn't seem to do anything so I quit doing it. The speech therapist said the vocal problem is caused by insufficient lung volume but my lung function test didn't show any significant problems. However, they put me on Q-var in case this might be lung-related (although they don't think it is). During all this, I've still been fighting the nausea. My Gastro had scheduled another EGD and a PH test to see if I do have reflux, but the tests were cancelled because they want to do a "consultation" before running any more tests - which I agree! I'm going to ask them to test me for a fungal infection such as Candida ("oral thrush") and Coccidioidomycosis ("valley fever") which is possible because I live in Nevada - a dry climate conducive to valley fever). I've actually suspected that I inhaled something during that news interview because I was outside on a windy cold morning for four hours and that's when I lost my voice. (They weather report said a storm was blowing in from California and it could have carried some kind of fungus.) My "consultation" is scheduled for Aug. 19th. If anyone hhere as any ideas about what else I should ask them during the consultation or any other tests I should ask ,for I'd be so appreciative if you could let me know, ok? Thanks folks... and may God bless us all to get better! :)
