I am a 40yr old femaleCondoms Female condoms Female sexual dysfunction who had her appendixAppendectomy removed two weeks ago. I was asymptomatic until they were completing a cardiacCardiac catheterization Cardiac tamponade Left heart ventricular angiography cath-and that it when the severe pain started. They did a CT and realized that they nicked an artery and I had internal bleeding from the procedure and that my appendixAppendectomy was giant. I had a follow up appointment with the surgeon and he informed me that the pathology report was completed and it showed that I had the very rare condition called Mucocele of the AppendixAppendectomy. He briefly described that my appendixAppendectomy was full of mucus and that if my appendix burst, then the mucus would have spread cancer throughout my abdomen. I went home and I have been trying to read about the condition online-which is raising more questions.
My 2 main questions are:
*If the mucus would have caused cancer if it spilled into my abdomen, wouldn''t it cause cancer in my appendix? They are not having me do any further follow ups-so it sounds like my appendix is not cancerous.
* I have read that ovarian and colon cancer co-exist with mucucele of the appendix and that monitoring is required. I am concerned because colon cancer runs in the family. Is the co-existing cancer likely if the mucus was contained only to the appendix?
