My husband is SICK

by shellbell70, Jan 07, 2009 12:52PM
Help me please, my husband has distention in his stomach, constant nausea and occasional vomiting after having his appendix out in July of 2008.  Tests after tests and still nothing a stay in the hospital for 2 weeks where they made him comfortable.  I need some help dealing with this any suggestions? He is scheduled for a endoscopy and biopsy on January 14, 2009. I just want my husband back. I'm trying to be a big girl about this, but find it difficult at times.  Any suggestions so I can help him deal with this.

Shell, can you list the specific tests he had done, please? It's difficult to make suggestions when all that's presented are 'generalities.'

When you say stomach, it it's the true stomah area that's distended, or the abdominal area?

Does he have any underlying medical issues? Do any food makes things better or worse? Does he have other symptoms you haven't mentioned? Any change in bowel habits?

It is his whole stomach that is distended usually happens after he eats, or as at work lifting and bending.  He has had a MRI, Catscan, Xrays, endoscopy, biopsy. Now there is occasional blood in his stool and in his vomit, now there is what looks like coffee grinds in his vomit. I'm really worrid. He sees his surgeon this week and gastronologist next week. His bowel movements are frequent, he passes gas, no foods make him better or worse. We thought maybe Celiac Disease because he works in a bakery, but tests came back negative. And loads of stress, its a hurry up and wait game.

I just happen to come across your post and I'm really worried about the blood and coffee grounds-type thing in his vomit, etc. I just want to make sure the docs he's seeing next week know this is going on right now!  If I had these symptoms, I would be in the ER now because it's indicative of internal bleeding, but I'm aware I have liver problems.

I don't want to scare you, but just make sure his docs know of these new symptoms right away! Blood in vomit or stool is not good!

Take care,
Nicole

I'm scared already, nothing fazes us anymore, he will be mentioning this to our doctor, this bleeding does not happen all the time, only on occasion when he very stressed out. The coffee grind blood means that the blood is old, it is very concerning we just need some answers and no one has any, the next test will be a colonoscopy.
