NEED AN ANSWER QUICK!

Hi. I am a 26 yr old female.
I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroidistis
Also a slipping hiatal hernia (about a year and a half ago I was diagnosed)
Doc said it was small.

Anyways, about 5 weeks ago, I went for a walk and started feeling chest pressure.
This went on for 3 days and then it stayed.
I have been to the ER 3 times in 5 weeks
Also my family doc.
EKG, Echocardiogram (actually this was done by my family doc before I started having problems just to rule out anything) chest x-ray and bloodwork. (all of this 3 times)

Everything came back good.
Every doc doubted it was my heart. Because of the tests and my age, as well as no history of hear trouble.
I started getting chest pain..mostly dull...and recently SHARP. It goes into my upper back and down my arms and shoulders. I also get a little nausous and lightheaded.

Now for about 2 years I have had alot of burping...but recently I have had alot of burping with this. Does anyone think this could be related to the hiatal hernia.

I even feel it go up into my neck and jaw...anyone else have this.
I know I need to get an endoscopy...I just wanted to know everyones opinion
And if anyone else thinks heart stuff is probably ruled out????

Thanks God bless.

Since you have a hiatal hernia, then this would likely be the exact cause of the discomfort you've been feeling in your chest area, especially since heart tests were negative.  The esophagus connects to the tummy in an irregular way with a hiatal hernia, about where the sternum is, so the location can feel like your heart is hurting.  You've probably got acid burping up into that area, and that is causing you lots of discomfort, as well as the hernia abnormality itself, usually whilst eating or afterwards.  Probably you feel a sting in your upper body in general because of pain, that can set the nerves off.  Also, breathing can be affected by this, discomfort will make you breathe too shallow or hold your breath, and this might be what is making you feel dizzy.

You are supposed to take some medicines to help with that hernia and with acid in the tummy, but in a pinch an alka seltzer original will release the gas that is causing your burping.  Recently I had to consume some terrible medicines, and I got this stoppage feeling in my chest, I knew it was where my tummy and esophagus connected, felt like I wanted to let loose a burp but one wouldn't come, so I tapped on my chest in the sternum area,  and it would allow the gas and acid to settle down, stopped that full feeling, and then I would relax.

People who have hiatal hernias are supposed to avoid spicy, fatty, citrusy, fried foods, carbonated drinks, and stick to plain nonfat foods, vegies, brown rice, you can find hiatal hernia diets online.  Bland sorts of things go down a lot better because they produce less acid.  Also, whenever you notice this happening, try to remember what you ate at your last meal, and reflect on whether one of the foods did this.  Having a thyroid problem isn't helping your situation, because usually a hypothyroid will cause a person to gain weight no matter how active or how good their diets are, and extra weight will squeeze everything inside you, and will make a hiatal hernia situation harder to deal with.

It's possible your hernia is going to need repair soon, it may be slipping up through the diaphram way too far and strangling sort of, and might need to be stitched back into its normal position.  Whomever your gastro doc is, or you can be referred to one, he should be giving you better treatment for your hiatal hernia and make sure it doesn't need surgery yet.  He can also discuss all your symptoms and explain them much better than I can, and tell you ways to prevent all this from happening.  By the way, if you take medicine pills or eat large portions of food, you should be sure to wash them down really well with lots of water, because they can sort of set off a hernia squeezing upward, causing reflux and other painful reactions.

But even with all this said, I think your heart should be checked regularly, keep an eye on your pulse, note if it goes over 100 at any point in a little journal, someone should check your cholesterol, and regularly let your doc know about any painful episodes you keep having, just in case you do need a heart evaluation by a cardiologist.  And tap on that sternum when you get that wierd painful feeling, it should settle down that sensation very quickly.
