NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING FOR 5 WEEKS. EVEN SIP OF WATER IS VOMITTED UP!

My friends daughter was admitted to hospital 5 weeks ago.  2 years ago she contracted ECOLI and MRSA.
5 weeks ago whilst on holiday in the Canaries she became unwell and was admitted to hospital and after 5 weeks she still cannot eat of drink anything.  Even a sip of water she vomits up.
The are feeding her fluids through a drip in her arm.
They have checked her ovaries. Put a pipe into her stomach and blown it up to check her organs.  Sometimes she is in so much pain they give her morphine.  She is only 22 years old and feeling so ill she is getting very emotional and her mum is naturally so worried as they appear to be making no progress.  There is no specialist and she is not getting answers.
An ultra sound showed 2 lumpson her liver but they don't seem to be followig up on this.
Any advise you can give would be great.

I responded to the first time you posted your question but never heard back from you.  If you can respond to my questions, we can continue to talk about this.

Hi, sorry, I tried to find your reply but couldn't as never been on here before.  That's why I wrote the quesiton again but thought I had answered some of the things you mentioned, like how she is being fed fluids.  This is through the arm.  They gave her 'Bavarian porridge' not sure if that's what you call it to expand her stomach and inserted a camera but found nothing wrong this way.  They have tested for Hep and Malaria.  The ultra sound found 2 lumps on her liver but they don't seem to be investigating this further.
It's very hard for me as I am in one country and my friend is in the UK with her daughter and clearly worried and upset that they don't appear to be making any progress.  Of course everything stopped because of the Festive season and whilst they said they would get another specialist they haven't so far.  They won't move her hospitals and my friend is getting very upset but cannot afford to go private.
I've asked her to get more information for me today about exactly what they have done and ruled out as they don't even seem to be keeping her in the picture.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry what is TPN?

TPN is total parenteral nutrition.  It is nutrition that is given through an IV or a central line.  It is usually yellowish in color and given anywhere from 12-24 hours a day, every day.

Hi I read your post and Im not surprised you are concerned.  Im in  the UK too.  Is your friend under the NHS?  I have been through similar.  My problem was my stomach.  I had an endoscopy and it was found that I had an inflamed nodule in my stomach.  I couldn't even keep water down at one point.  They just put me on a drip.  Has your friend had an endoscopy?  You would think they would do more tests.  I had a barium meal xray and chest xray.  I am still under the gastro as I have gastritis now and a hiatus hernia.  I don't know what your friend has but the liver thing could be cysts.  You wouldn't think that they would stop her eating.  Has she got pain in her stomach?  I wonder if the doctors should be treating her stomach.  I mean gastric, I don't know what test she had.  I wish I could help as I know the misery of digestive problems.  I will pray for her to get well.
