Nausea

by Labor1940, Oct 23, 2001 12:00AM
My 84 yrs. young Mom had surgery for an abscess caused by diverticulosis last year. A colostomy was performed, the diseased colon removed and she later had everything connected back up and she is whole once more.  However, since that time whenever she rolls over on her right side, she has what she calls bile come up in her esophagus and most of the time it causes her to vomit. She is taking pepcid ac to help but has to be very careful of what she eats.  what could be causing this?

there may be a problem related to the surgeryeven though it has been senselast year . you need to call her gastro / digestive surgeon or specialestand make a apointmentfor her to be seen.how ever  it is possible it is a totaly seperate isue . i would not put this off, one because of her age two because it could be something serious .i have also had a portion of my colon rempooved and a resection done if i was having the problems you described i would see my surgeon and specialest asap .the digestive system is very complex and different digestive problems have a way of mimicing one another so it is best to have some test ran to make sure what your mother is actualy dealing with .god blees your mom and you and i wish you both well.
