That is at the very high end of the range.  35 - 75% is usually the norm.  Some patients present with biliary dyskinesia and have higher than normal ejection fractions.  Not much is known about this at the moment but there have been a few studies done on it.  You can google Gallbladder high ejection fraction to research this.  I had an 88% EF and pain diarrheah nausea and my dr did not do anything.  I lived with the pain a year and then another dr decided to do another hida scan and then it was 23% and I had surgery.  The surgeon said my gallbladder had lots of adhesions and evidence of inflammation.    I now do not have the same type of pain but have attacks of severe cramping etc under the right ribs and in the upper middle and my back and was diagnosed with sphincter of oddi . So I would possibly retest down the road if the symptoms continue and they do not find a cause.

The test result came back, and the gallbladder is working 74%.  So now its back to square one to figure out what is causing all of this.  The dr has now put me on omeprazole and metoclopramide to see if that helps at all

The milkshake was given to simulate a fatty meal just as the cck does. The object of this  is to see how much your gallbladder contracts .  This is not as common as CCK but I have heard of it being done.

I don't know the answer to your question.  But you can call the place where you had the test done and tell them what you told me.  Ask them if it sounds like the test was done correctly according to the doctors orders.  Let us know the results!

Well, I had the Hida scan done yesterday, the dr ordered it with the cck also.  No other injections were given besides the 1st one with the radioactive stuff in it.  After 1 hour, I had to drink some milkshake like substance and then they took pictures after that also.  Did the drink have the same effect as the cck or did they forget to do that part?  Thanks

No skin or joint symptoms, no heart palpitations, iron, zinc, multivitamin and birth control pills.  All of which I have been on for years. I have an hour glass figure, 5'5" 106 lbs.  Both of my grandmothers have had their gallbladders removed.  My diet, etc hasn't changed. Nails are healthy, no stretch marks.  It just seemed to happen all of a sudden.  I thought it was a stomach bug so I let it go for a little while and then when I started to lose weight I called the doctors.  Each doctor I've seen (including specialists) all say its more than likely my gallbladder but none of the tests have proved it yet.

Oh yeah, hope it's just your gallbladder - it would be so much easier than trying to figure out the other stuff.  Good luck!

OK!  This one is going to take a little time.  Do you have any skin or joint symptoms?  Any heart palpitations?  Name all vitamins, minerals or medications that you might be on.  Another thing to consider is decreased stomach acid which is needed to digest food.  Hormonal imbalances - what is your body type - hourglass, apple shaped, pear shaped?  Have you used contraception?  I think you're getting the idea.  What was your diet like before you started with this problem?  Family history of gastrointestinal problems?  Are your nails healthy looking or do they have spots, indentations, discolorations of any sort?  Hemachromatosis in the family?  Stretch marks (high cortisol or zinc deficiency)?  Basically the body is run like an assembly line.  If one of the workers is not available to his/her job at one section of the line, then the finished product is defective.  It doesn't take much to cause problems in the body.  So take time to write down every symptoms you've had or have.  We'll do our best to help you and hopefully the doctor will find the answer.  Keep us posted!

Its been going on for about 1 month.  It happens every time I eat, no matter if its a meal or a snack.  I have had bloodwork done, along with ultrasound, EGD, and colonscopy.  In which all came back normal.  My dr gave me some pills to take before eating to coat the stomach, that didnt help.  I am now scheduled for a HIDA scan on Monday.  Was just trying to get some input, to see what could be causing all of this.  Thanks

A little more history behind this would help.  How long have you been having these symptoms?  Does this happen every time you eat?  There are many things that can cause this.  You will definitely need a doctor to help with a diagnosis.  There's Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's disease, Celiac disease, Gallbladder problems, etc.  Many things must be considered.  Make an appt. to see a doctor.  Hope you find relief!
