Need Help With This

I have been having a problem for some time now..... I start to feel like I have to go to the bathroom (no. 2) & although there is a lot of pain & pressure, nothing happens. When this happens the pain is unbearable! It happens in this order. First the feeling like I have to go, it also hurts my stomach & my testicles.... I also sweat a lot (which I guess is from the pain although I have night sweats a lot but I do not think they are related) & most the time I pass out (I am guessing from the pain), although when I "wake-up" the it has usually subsided. Has this ever happened to anyone before? I take MS Contin for my spine & neuropathies so when this happens I will take 100mg tablet, but last night I had to take more than that before the pain subsided.

I would also like to add that I do not have any issues with constipation. Quite the opposite actually, even with opiate pain medication I have diarrhea daily. I don't know if this could be a related issue with my stomach from the lack of IF or something else.

Vagus nerve? I do not know what this is although I am about to look it up.  I have Peripheral Neuropathy along with Optic Neuropathy & Radiculopathy.  Do you know if the Vagus Nerve can be affetced by Neuropathies?

Thanks for your reply.  I understand what you are saying about the constipation as I hear it happens to a lot of people who take pain medication, except even though I take them too, I have diarrhea almost daily. Strange huh? No one has been able to explain to me why I have the complete opposite reaction that most people have.  So I do not understand what is going on, I was wondering if it could be colon related? as my Esophagus is bad (I have not had a biopsy done in a long time although I am supposed to get them every few months) do you think it may have traveled down?

Ive seen a few people with these symptoms post before, I'm not a doctor, but I hear that its usualy something wrong with the Vagus nerve.  Ive had it happen to me a few times, only I've actualy had really bad diarrhea before the fainting part.  But when I brought it up with my doc they didn't know what was going on.

It's my guess (and only a guess) that perhaps your pain medication is making you constipated, which can definitely cause pain, pressure - I've also had instances when I've been constipated (I also have to take pain meds for chronic pain issues) that I've gotten nauseas, lightheaded and sweaty, although I've never actually passed out like you have.

You may want to talk to your doctor about trying some sort of stool softener and/or laxative - there are many good OTC ones (I, myself like the Phillips no-cramp caplets), as well as prescription ones - at least to see if it not only helps you to be able to go to the bathroom, but also alleviate some of the other symptoms.  Of course, PLEASE DO NOT add or change any of your medications without first talking to your doctor - there are some medications and health conditions where it is not wise to use these types of "help".

I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted on how you're doing.
