Need diagnosis...

by NYCMan, Oct 03, 2002 12:00AM
Hi...was hoping someone here might be able to lead me in the right direction...

For a while I've been having the following symptoms off-and-on.  They tend to occur every few days to every few weeks and last a couple of days:

- raw feeling/light pain in rectum/anal canal (as if there's a jagged stick or something still there)
- pain when going to the bathroom as stool comes out and passes through this area
- pain and discomfort when "clenching" during and afterward for a day or two.
- sometimes accompanied by blood in stool or anus.  the blood appears more when wiping...if with the stool the blood does not appear to be mixed but rather a separate layer.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

You should talk to your doctor about this as it is the same thing I have and I have hemmoroids (hemorrhoids). It does feel like a sharp stick is jammed half way up there and I also get some blood mixed in the my stool as well when I don't eat enough fiber. You should ask your doctor for some suppositories and some hemmoroid cream...the stuff they sell at the drugstore is not recommended for bleeding hemmoroids (hemorrhoids).
Plus you should make sure your diet includes enough fiber or try taking a teapoon of Metamucil..it is not a laxative but a good source of soluable fiber which will make your stool come out easier without making your hemmoroid bleed.Straining is the worst for hemmoroids (hemorrhoids) and can cause bleeding too.Make sure too that you drink water through out the day, which is also good for your digestive system. You could have internal hemmoroids (hemorrhoids)...which are usually the ones that bleed and there is also external hemmoroids (hemorrhoids) where a piece of it will visible from your anal opening. The redder the blood the closer it is to your anal opening.
Go talk to your doctor and he will give you what you will need for it. Don't let it go for too long as the pain can get pretty bad sometimes.
Good Luck, Virgo
