Need help with weird pain

I'm not really sure if this has to do with gastroenterology or not, but I figured I would put it under here. About a week and a half ago, after eating a big breakfast, I started out on a long drive and began to experience a sharp pain below my right ribs. I thought it was just gas pain at first, but then shortly after, the pain elevated into my shoulder, underneath my collar bone, and in my neck...all on my right side. It started to subside after a while and when I got out of the car to stretch, the pain got really bad again. It wasn't sore to touch or anything like that, just felt sharp, and I can tell it was all the same pain, not individual problems...but all in different areas, as mentioned. After I got back in the car and was still for a while, the pain went away again. It was gone until I got home that night and laid on my right side...the pain became unbearable for a few minutes and again, once I was lying on my other side and still...it went away.  Then the other night, after a big dinner (but about 3 hours later), I was just hanging out on the couch and I can feel the same pain coming on slowly...this time I felt it starting in my shoulder and slowly went right to all the same spots again. I've had large meals at other times in between so I cannot imagine the pain is stemming from the food...(but then again, who knows?) Then, last night and tonight...every time I lie down, I feel like I have difficulty breathing and keep having to take deep breaths. I'm not sure if one has to do with the other... but it's all becoming increasingly annoying and the pain that I've experienced is really uncomfortable and painful... I feel weird going to a doctor because I can't really even explain the symptoms that well and I feel like it is so strange. HELP!

I went to the Dr. this past week and they did a sonogram on my gallbladder, abdomen and the surrounding areas, a sonogram of my heart, an EKG, a chest x-ray and took blood and so far have found nothing wrong. The Dr. said it may be something to do with the muscles. He said he will call me within 10 days with more definite results and if the pain continues they will do a CAT scan. Thanks for the help!

Well, you're going to have to go to a doctor, preferably the ER, mainly because it COULD be a heart problem.  But it also sort of sounds like your gallbladder and/or liver is not working like it's supposed to, might be gallstone pain is triggered when your food is trying to be digested, or could be your stomach emptying valve isn't working right and the food just gets stuck in your tummy, OR could be you have an ulcer.  Don't worry about how to explain your symptoms, you have done a very good job of it here.  But sorry I can't pinpoint what your pain is any better than this, which is why you gotta go ahead and bite the bullet and see a doc forthwith.  I do think it's your gallbladder, but the reason why I feel urgency in telling you to go to an ER is because of the risk of it being a heart problem.  Let us know what happens.
