Need some answers with digestive problems

I have had problems with my stomach and colon all my life. I have been diagnosied with IBS, reflux, and spastic colon. I have constant pain in my abdomen and colon. I am never without pain. I resently had a scope done both upper and lower. They took biopsy about 3. When they came back they said they were very non-specific. What does that mean? They don't know? I have also been diagnosied with staph in my urine. This happened after my test. Could I have gotten staph from having the scope? I am so tired of not knowing what to do. I am always hurting. I have been on several diffrent medications for IBS, reflux etc. Right now I am on Robinul and protonx. They are not helping. Do you have any suggestions? I am really disprate. I also am experencing pain on my right side around the rib area. Its swollen and very tender. Have no idea what it is. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the advice yes they have done all those test. I just came back from the doctor and was sent to a uriologist. Found out I had Interstitial cystitis. A very severe case. He said that may be part of my IBS. It goes hand and hand. So I am hoping that this might be alot of that mystery. It is going to take a year for the meds to even feel like they are working but... to me its a hope that all of it might settle down. Thanks again for the information you have given me. Its nice to just talk to people who understand.

Sogoldie and Yoshie you both are so knowlegable in this. Thanks for the information. Sogoldie I could not find the post on the crohns and celiac test. I have had several colonscopys and upper GI's done. They take biopseys each time several. They always come back don't know so I now call it my alien in my colon. Yoshie I have watched what I eat and all citris drinks or fruit upset my stomach and cause pain. I cannot eat raw veggies of any kind and spicy food in a big no no also. I have been like this since I was 14. I have had stomach alcers on and off for years. Sever gastroitis in the colon. I have been on pentasa-hysocyamine-robinul forte-chlordiazepoxine-all protonx-nexum-zantac-pepsid-just about everything. Nothing seems to help the pain. I hurt before and after going to the bathroom. I go from sever diarrhea to mild constapation. I stay nausead all the time. I take promethazine for that. I go through times where eating just plan hurts so I don't. Which is not good but its like a battle of which is worse not eating or the pain of eating. I put myself on bland diets alot. That helps. but you get tired of eating soup, rice, potatoes and jello. I don't drink cokes that hurts. I usually stay with just water or tea. Limit the tea. So I really don't know what to do. The pain is my whole intestinal track. I can pinpoint the place they take the most biopseys is left side right by the belly button. I hurt when any one touches any where across my abdomen. I am never without pain. Its really hard to enjoy anything. I really appeciate you guys helping me think this through. Any help is better then what I have and I can at least take it to my gastro and ask him to do something. All of them are in that I just don't know. So that is why spastic colon and IBS is my diagnosis. Thanks again

How is your bowel movement? If you are constipated, the toxic builtup in your body can do a lot of harm,so keep your bowel moving.
If all these acid reflux medication do not work, may be you dont have enough stomach acid.
How do you feel right after you eat?do you feel comfortabble?
Does drinking OJ,pineapple juice or cranberry juice make you feel better? They raise the acid level in your stomach and help you digest, this is a way to find out if you have too much or too little stomach acid.
Have you shown your doctor of the sore point over your rib?
I hope it is not the appendix which is lower on the right as well.
Did they look into Crohn disease??

How did he diagnose the IBS with tests or speculation/symptoms?  Ask him to do a Crohn's and a Celiac test. I have a post above about them.

The staph infection may not be related to your condition. If you have Crohn's and it was mistakenly diagnosed as IBS (a similar disease), there's a possiblity (that I won't go into here) it is due to that (a condition called a fistula - don't worry about it till you get these tests).

It always makes me wonder when the recommended RX has no effect so I'd check it out.

I guess I take it in hopes that something would eventually work. I have actually stopped taking it because its not. I can see now what you are saying. They tell me I over produce acid in the stomach. but...nothing I have taken protonx, acifix, all the purple pills. zantac, pepsid all those have not helped. I have been on every antispasmatic you can think of. I am just wandering if its something else. I just keep hoping someone has an answer because the doctors don't know. They just look at me and say I don't know or if you have problems call me... haha and what? I really appeciate your help. Sorry if I sound bitchy. I am just tired of the whole thing it wares you out after a while. Thanks again!

If protonix is not working for you,why take it?
see if you dont have too much stomach acid, and protonix is meant to curb or reduce acid production, you will end up with less acid to digest food and kill the bacteria coming from outside.half or undigested food passed from stomach to small intestine and then large intestine to mingle with all that bacteria would give you more gas .
