I am a 28 year old mother of 3 children.  Approximately 2 months after giving birth to my 3rd child, I found out that I have numerous gall stones.  In the last 3 months I have had 3 gallbladder attacks, each one getting progressively worse.  I am scheduled to have my gall bladder removed on Nov.22, which I am a little nervous about.  Especially after reading about so many people having problems afterwards.  Over the last few weeks I have been having problems with diarrhea.  The weird thing is that the diarrhea comes first thing in the morning before I even eat anything.  This has become a daily occurrence over the last few days.  I was wondering if this is related in any way to my gall bladder.  I should also mention that I switched to a low-fat diet about a month ago.  I really don't believe that this is due to anxiety over the upcoming surgery.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Most of us who continue to have problems, even after the gallbladder is removed, usually had a problem other than gallstones.

In my situation, it was not just the gallbladder, but the gallbladder became a secondary result of the initial cause. That which is still being investigated.

More than likely, you will find resolution with the surgery.

I'm glad you posted about your gallbladder. Please take my advise and get a second opinion about surgery. I had my gallbladder out in January of this year and the surgery went fine as well as a painless recovery, except for the shoulder pain the first night. However 3 months after my surgery my life was turned upside down from common complications resulting from the removal of my gallbladder. Severe stomach aches, diareah (sp). nausea and vomiting, reflux from too much acid backing up because there is no gallbladder to hold the extra bile. Life threatning hypoglycemia (not diabetic). I am on a Proton pump inhibitor for the acid reflux but there is nothing that can help the constant pain under my right ribs that has cropped up. I have had many test and all come back normal. There are other alternatives to having the gallbladder removed! They can fix it without removing it. I didn't know these things before my surgery or I would never have let them take it out. I was a healthy, slightly overweight 33 year old female. Now I live in constant pain and have lost 50 lbs in the last 6 months. Please explore your options. By the way, changing your diet probably contributed greatly to your change in bowel habits. Please feel free to email me directly if you have any questions for me ***@**** Good luck!

You should do just fine. Most people who have problems after gallbladder removal had non functioning gallbladders. To have stones is a relief that you will do just fine after. Diarrhea is common. Plus you'll probably have it after surgery for a while until your body adjusts to not having your gallbladder. Don't you normally have a BM in the morning? What happens to your evening meal it has to go somewhere.
