No one can figure it out

by Resnam, Nov 21, 2008 04:48PM
Hi there, I am hoping you can help us out.  For 10 months my husband has been having severe stomach pain and no one knows what is wrong

The symptoms are as follows:
Abdominal pain (below rib cage and lower)
Cramping
Nausea
Constipation 70%
Diarrhea 30%
Lack of energy
Bloating
Distended stomach

The following tests have been taken:
Ultrasound
CTscan (found fattier pancreas and thyroid)
Blood work
Stool samples(some blood was found)
Endoscopy
colonoscopy
I thnk a Barium swallow test has been done as well

He has been put on a number of meds, some are to deal with the sideaffects of the others.
The latest was the CT scan and the Specialist sent him away without any answers and told him to come back in 4 weeks for a follow up.  They are only treating the symptoms through persription, but nothing has even been said about treating the cause.
HELP!!! I can't even describe how frustrating this is, and helpless I feel when he is in so much pain that he can't even work his full time job.
What questions can we ask the doctor?

I have all of the symptoms your husband has except the chronic excurciating pain. That comes and goes with me, and it is relatively mild. I just posted about my treatment for a yeast infection on my skin (behind my knees, around my anus, under my armpits, in my groin, between my toes.) Treatment with 5 days of Diflucan taken orally for the yeast infection resulted in all of my stomach problems going away. I had ALL of the same symptoms your husband has. Problem is, the yeast infections return after 4 - 6 weeks, and that returns all of my other symptoms return.

I'd be curious to know if your husband -- and for that matter you, because my wife gets vaginal yeast infections when I have outbreaks -- has yeast infection problems?
