I have polycycstic disease of my liver only.  I have always had a great shape and enjoyed working out.  Especially since I am a police officer, it is important to be in good shape. My problem is that I look about 7 months pregnant due to my conditon.  This is extremele upsetting to me.  I need to know if I can do situps and stomach crunches (even though I do feel sick afterwards) and not having  any long term problems from them.  I am now 112 pounds and hate looking pregnant.  I was informed that having 4 children made my cycts enlarge to the size that they are now (about the size of oranges).  If the cycts naturally break, the cycts behind it may be alot smaller and I will be able to get my shape back.  Is there anyway to not look preganat in lieu of having my liver surgically made smaller?

Sit ups won't help shrink the size of your cysts.

You should listen to what your body is telling you...pain is a sign to STOP!!!

To: re: liver cysts.
I too have liver cysts only. I have a much  larger one than you have.Huge !!(in my right liver lobe) plus several smaller ones. I cannot vacuum my floors without having pain in my liver area.. I don't try exercise to reduce my stomach because I know it will not work. Once the cysts are there, they are there.. unless you have to have a liver resection or transplant.
Since yours are not bothering you be thankful.  There are some of us with liver cysts having a lot of pain 24/7.. I cannot do the simple tasks around the house anymore, like vaccuming the floors.. Its been very hard for me, both mentally and physically.
You sound like a small person at 112 lbs..
Take care,
Linda in Ark.
