Octreotide injections for Delayed Gastric Emptying

I have delayed gastric emptying that has been unsuccessfully treated with Botox.  My doctor now wants to have me start daily injection of Octreotide.  I have read some articles on this, but the ones I have read said it did not help.  Do you have any ideas on this treatment.  I also have tested positive for bacteria in a nitrogen breath test.

About the only thing you can do is to try the octreotide. Each person's system is different and you may or may not be helped. Octreotide has been shown in one small study to speed up gastric emptying in patients with scleroderma. In a separate study involving normal volunteers, octreotide caused a decrease in the uncomfortable sensation of fullness after a meal. So it's possible it might help.

You may also want to consider treatment for the bacteria.
