Orange/brown Tounge

by kypa, Oct 25, 2001 12:00AM
For the past two weeks I have had a Orange /brown covering on my tounge. I have been brushing it off but it returns within a few hours. I have no idea? What could it be?

Regards..

Do you smoke and/or drink much coffee? Have you been under a lot of stress? Do you suffer from GERD and/or dry mouth?

If you answer yes to a few of the above questions then you have most likely found the cause of your tongue coating. I have had a coated tongue for years and never realized what it was. I stopped smoking for a few months last year( have since started again) and the coating all but disappeared. The coating is probably whitish but stains brown/orange due to food and beverage (coffee) consumption. A coated tongue is usually nothing to worry about and will most likely improve if you address the cause(s). Of course if it is bothering you then you should ask your doctor or dentist about it.

BTW: Get a tongue scrapper, they work wonders!
