An ejection fraction of zerot means your gallbladder is not working at all. It cannot properly contract and eject its supply of bile to digest fats in your diet. Not a good thing at all. I also did not have stones, but my gallbladder was very infected, and because of the infection, I developed a ton of scar tissue all over my small intestines. My symptoms were somewhat atypicalAtypical pneumonia as well.
It is true that some people have more trouble after gallbladder surgery. I have read statistics anywhere from 5% to 10%, so who really knows? I wouldn't bother with EGD after your hida scan results, but that's just my opinion. What does your doctor have to say?
Thanks for your note. Surgeon says my heartburn and acid is probably NOT from my gallbladder...she thinks that is a separate problem. Since that is the thing that is bothering me most (not that the rib cage pain is fun) I guess I'm concerned that I'll have my gallbladder out and not feel better....I'm looking for a new doctor because my PCP just sent me to the surgeon, she didn't really want to deal with anything else I guess. What were your symptoms and how do you feel now?
