PAIN!

Hello, my grandfather is 55 years old and had always been in great health until polyps were found in his colon. He got them removed then shortly after was told he needed surgery. He elected to do the labroscopic (spelling sorry) surgery as opposed to the open surgery. He did not recieve a single CT scan before the surgery so during the surgery the doctor slipped and ended up cutting him open and taking out 60% of his colon. Home from the hospital for 9 days he called the dr. saying he was in terrible pain but the dr. said to basically get over it. Three days after that he was rushed to the ER and was rushed in to have a second surgery because his colon was literally hangin out his anas. He now has a colostomy. It has been a month and a half since his second surgery and he is still in agonizing pain. He is constantly short of breath, persistantly nauseated, and cannot eat but maybe a bowl of ceareal or two a day without throwing up. He has awful heartburn but was told not to take any antacids. Is there any reason he is having this much trouble with the recovery and the Dr. keeps just telling him its normal or do we need to find another dr.? And in the mean time is there anything he can do to stop the pain.

I would be very interested in hearing about this case since its been more than 6 months since the last comment was posted. My wife is experiencing many of the same things as your grandfather. Please let us know how things are going. I see what this kind of thing does to a person, I feel for your grandfather and for those that love him and don't know how to help him. It is a terrible thing for everyone involved.

What happened is that the dr. didn't do a ct scan so when he went in he was using 6 month old information so something happened. When the surgerywas over he said he had to make a judgement call and cut into him and ended up taking 60% of his colon

I am not a doctor, but I am smart enough to suspect this doctor messed up and needs to be sued. Get to another doc asap that has knowledge and can save your dads life. This is serious and his doctor in my opinion is incompetent.
