Pain URQ-Gallbladder already removed

I am having a very painful "attack" that is right under my ribs on the right side. This is not new. These are the same "attacks" I was having when they removed my gallbladder in Sept. 07. I never know when I will have one. They aren't related to foods. I have kept a record of my foods and activities to try and find an answer and I am stumped. What worries me now is I can feel a 'pone' or lump where it is hurting. Can scar tissue from the surgery cause the lump? Any ideas on the causes or cures for this pain will be appreciated. I take prilosec daily and never have heartburn anymore. I also take hyoscyamine when these attacks get really bad. I only take it as a last resort because it makes me feel so bad.

I had the exact same symptoms for the last 3 years post lap chole.  I had all the tests,  xrays and Ultrasound done with negative findings. Next stop was the GI Specialist to rule out SOD.    However, I stumbled upon this information on how to have a healthy PH Balance .  I began a 80/20 intake of Alkaline foods ( primarily veggies and fruits), cut out all medications including my acid reducer  ( medications cause for acid!), stopped all artificial sweetners and lo-cal diet foods and coffee.

GUESS WHAT!   Within 2 weeks .... NO pain what so ever....No heartburn and for the first time I feel normal and finally pain free.

You might want to look into a PH Balanced diet... I am flabbergasted by all the problems an acidic body causes.

What's happening may be SOD - sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. You should check back with your doc and make sure nothing is happening within your biliary system - like sludge or stones. You may want to discuss having an MRCP done and having your liver and pancreactic enzymes checked. You can read up on SOD here: http://hopkins-gi.nts.jhu.edu/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1&organ=3&disease=12&lang_id=1
