Pain a year after Cholecystecomy

I had my gallbladder removed about 14 months ago.  During the past year, I have felt better.  I do notice that some foods bother me alot--which I try to avoid.  I have recently had bouts of diarrhea quite frequently--no matter what I seem to eat or not eat.  I am having sharp pains right under my ribs on the right side and pain in my back.  Any suggestions?

Look up Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction.  If the tiny muscles of this sphincter are too tight, bile and digestive enzymes can't flow properly to the small intestine and result in the symptoms you describe.  An MRCP procedure (performed by a gastroenterologist) can evaluate if this is your problem and correct it.  You may also have developed sludge in the bile ducts that will hamper bile flow - basically tiny bits of hardened bile that are the same makeup as gallstones.  The gastro doc can also clear this matter out.  Whatever the problem is, you need to see your gastro doc again.
