Pain after placemnt of Pancreatic Stent

by jpmed528, Nov 01, 2008 02:46PM
On 22 Oct I had a pancreatic stent placed into the main pancreatic duct at Hershey Med Center, PA due to stricture of the duct.  Since then I am experiencing quick shooting pains, several times per hour, in the uppoer right abdomen and towards the right side of my back. Laying on my right side increases the occurance of these pains. I have 17 acute pancreatitus (pancreatitis) attacks over the past 3 years and I know these pains, although in the same areas as pancreatitus (pancreatitis) are a different type of pain i.e. these are very quick pains verse the pacreatitius long lasting steady pain. Do you think the stent is having a problem or may have slipped a little since the placement.  I have had these stents 3 other times times in 2005 without any subsequent pain.  This stent is scheduled to be removed in Jan 09.
