about two and a half years ago, with approximately 42 centimeters of large intestine and 10 centimeters of small intestine removed. This surgery was due to severe diverticulitis. My initial recovery
from that first surgery was slow, with the first three days spent in intensive care then another week in a regular hospital room. However, when I finally got home, I was back to work within a week or so.
area repaired. I am concerned because at this point in time, I am still having quite a bit of pain, but it is not consistent. It comes and goes - one day I will be doing fairly well, then the next cannot walk without holding the right side of my abdomen. I am still taking Percocet at least once a day, sometimes twice. I realize that although the surgeries were similar, they were performed for different reasons and may have differed significantly 'internally'. The incision
made the second time was along the original incision, extending from the pubic bone to belly button, then extended an addional 2 inches or so above the naval.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the original of this pain or whether it is 'normal' at 5 weeks post-surgery? I know with my first surgery I did not have this level of pain for so long.
