Pain below rib cage - Help!

I suffer from IBS, Acid Reflux and Gastritis. I very frequently, even with medication, get agonizing pain right below my sternum. I suffered with this pain for 4 days straight and then it stopped. This time, after the pain that I have become accustom to stopped, I began having pain in the lower rib cage area that extended like a band around my body. I even have pain in my back (between shoulder blades and in shoulder blades). The pain alternates as gnawing & aching to sharp & stabbing (mostly on the right side). If I move wrong or breath in deep it sometimes hurts worse.

What could this pain be associated with? I have had gas pain in my chest and armpits before but nothing that has lasted for about 3-4 days. Could it be gas? Something to do with my stomach? Or does this sound like something that has absolutely nothing to do with the digestive tract?

Thank you for any suggestions that you might have

Thanks for the comment

I get horrible gas pains. At its worst, it migrates all the way up into my chest and up my sides into my armpits. The same "gas bubbles" you feel in your abdomen are the same I feel there. It is a lot of pressure that takes your breath away. I can feel the pain/pressure decrease as I feel the "bubbles" move downward in my stomach. It is quite awful.

I do have my GB but have had CT scans, HIDA scan and upper GI that all showed nothing wrong with my GB.

Never heard of sphinter of offi before. Perhaps I will look into that.

I haven't been on in a while so I will have to check some recent posts. All the posts I have read in the past have given me little insight into what this might be. It is very disturbing, though.

Hi: Really curious what does gas in chest and under arms feel like??  I mean it sounds like a digestive problem, you just stumped me w/ the gas under the arms?
I know my digestive issues effect my breathing or visa versa??

Do you have your GB, because your symptoms under rib cage extending to shoulder blade is classic for gallbladder disease.  Also could be sphinter of oddi.

You should read some posts, alot of sod symptoms on the board right now.
Hope you post your answers
