Had colonoscopy to splenic flexure in Nov. 08. (Male and age 56, then) No problems but in spring of 09 I started experiencing pain in the splenic flexure area. This was not too frequent until Nov. 09 when combination of flu
and poor sleep caused recurring pain in splenic flexure area. It would come and go and was aggravated by exercising (bicycling, running up stairs). Subsequent docs would not give me anything for pain, but finally Aug. 1, 2010 I got some donnatal, believing that I was experiencing cramping in the splenic area. This helps---but only a little. Now I have not only GERD and IBS, but now I have the cramping pain, too. However, I don't think it is the damage to spleen
What happened? Did the doc doing the scope have trouble getting through the flexure? I was sedated but remember saying "ow!" four times. Thought it was from a sample from stomach lining (they did upper GI, too). But now I have read that sometimes they have trouble at the splenic flexure. I would like this pain to stop, so I can exercise. Kaiser docs are not helping very much. I had to ask 3X for the donnatal. Also have tried hydroxyzine from earlier IBS problem. If this is a cramp caused by irritation from the procedure is there any other med that would specifically help?
