Pain in tailbone and rectum

I have pain in my tailbone which feels much worse when sitting.  I have a pressure in my rectum, almost the feeling that I haven't fully emptied my bowel.  There is also a slight burning sensation in my rectum.  My bms are regular (in the morning) and occasionally throughout the day, and are soft (which is the norm for me).  There is no blood in my stool or on toilet paper.  My health has been, luckily, pretty great with no existing medical conditions.  The only surgery I've had is a cesarean section in December 2008.  Any thoughts?

Hello. I had the exact same thing after the birth of my daughter. My Dr. diagnosed my with sacroilitis. Soemtimes after childbirth the pelvis can become misaligned and painful. I was sent to physical therapy and it made a world of difference. I would say that you probably have pelvic floor disfunction and possibly sacroilitis. You would greatly benefit from PT and biofeedback. Make sure the PT specializes in the pelvic floor. Good luck! I f you have an questions, feel free to message me.

You can check for a damaged tailbone with an X-ray of the hips etc...I know because I experienced issues with sitting for a long time and the doc eventually sent to to X Ray - came back with a fractured coccyx (tailbone).

I would think basic imaging would be the first step to see if they can find anything.

You can try sitting on one of those donuts that takes the pressure off of your tailbone and see if that helps.

Lots of info at www. coccyx. org
